Shades of A Colored Girl: The Difference Between You & I

Shades delves into the impact of colorism across generations, examining how it has shaped the lives of characters Adana and Hanifa from 1619 to 2026. By intertwining their experiences, the story highlights how colorism affects individuals differently based on skin tone, and how these effects ripple through generations. Colorism has divided a culture of women that are stronger together than on their own. We address the issue of not just being black but being dark-skinned & light skinned females in American society.
